Cancelling and what happens to your data

How to cancel, the notice period, and what is yours to keep.

Your plan is rolling monthly with no long contract. We would rather earn your business every month than lock you in, so cancelling is straightforward and you keep what is yours. Here is exactly how it works.

How to cancel

To cancel, give us 30 days’ written notice. An email to contact@buildmyservice.co.uk is fine, or message us through the Contact support button on any page. That 30 days gives us time to hand everything over properly and gives you time to make sure you are set up for what comes next.

What you pay during notice

Your subscription stays active and billable through the 30-day notice period, and your system keeps running as normal during that time. Partial months are not refunded, so if you cancel partway through a billing month, that month is not split or paid back.

What is yours to keep

The important things belong to you, not us:

  • Your domain name.
  • Your Google Business Profile.
  • Your website content and the photos you supplied.
  • Your customer and lead data.
  • Your trading name.

When you cancel, we hand your data back to you within 14 days and remove our access to your accounts.

What stays with us

The BuildMyService platform itself, the SmartSite framework your site is built on, and the automation templates and systems behind the scenes remain ours. They are licensed to you while your subscription is active, in the same way any software is. So your content, data and accounts are yours to take, while the underlying system that runs them is not transferred.

If you are thinking about leaving

If something is not working for you, talk to us before you cancel. Often there is a simple fix, or a change to your plan that solves it. Either way, no hard feelings. The Contact support button reaches a real person.
